Single camera production diary

28-01-2014
Today, as a group we all got together to discuss an adaptation of a group members screenplay; so we came to discussions about uses of dialogue, what is happening in the scene and what scenes needed to be removed. After we came to an agreement on everything myself and the group member of the original screenplay made re-writes until the whole group was happy with the finished product. We also sorted out the production schedule and got signatures for talent releases; we are now ready to begin on the storyboards.

Today we all carried on with our storyboards and have also made slight adjustments due to the restrictions that out set has presented us with. We have also completed an updated props list and confirmed the use of the sets.

Today we began preparing for filming on the project on the Monday 03/02/2014. We got together and checked are storyboards and any other paperwork.

We were unable to do a lot of work today as are sets where not ready for use until Monday, so we yet again went over our work.

We started filming today, after a shaking start of waiting for one of our actors to turn up we were able to start filming but it was rather slow. Another problem was that a teacher kept taking one of our actors away.

We finished off the opening scene but to our horror we realised that a lot of the footage wasn't coming out properly, so we are having to going to redo it.

Today we re-shot the unusable footage and went back to the computer to make sure that the footage we captured was good enough for use.

All but me out of the group were on a trip, so I started to begin editing the scene we shot yesterday.

The group were still on a trip so I continued with editing.

The group returned and we went to Megan's house so we could film. We didn't get as much done as we would have liked to but we are still on schedule.

We found that yet again while checking the footage from the tenth that the footage we have taken is unusable; we are going to have to use a different camera and film the scenes again, which has infuriated us a little but, but looking over the footage, it has given us some ideas for other shots.

We went back to Megan's to recapture the bad footage and to see if we can find out why the footage kept coming out wrong. We got very good footage using a different camera and managed find out what the problem was with Megan's camera. We are nearly finished filming and should be able to finish tomorrow as long as we stay on task.

We completely finished off all of the film and now all we need to do is edit; the only set back we had was to redo some of the footage because of some bad footage taken earlier.

We started the process of editing today and have really made the footage come together, although we have had to edit certain bits out because they don't make as much sense on screen as they did on paper.

Now that the footage has been put together, we started to put the audio in so the editing could be made to look more film like, instead of having it cut back and forth with now audio overlapping.

Savannah started to make an opening title for the film while the rest of use continued with the audio.

Today we finished out rough draft of our short film and started to put the music into it.

Today we showed our tutors the rough draft of the short and they we're happy except they both agreed that we needed to consider a change to the ending and have more preparation for the main female character leading up to the violent act.

We did the re-writes for the ending and an additional scene with the main female protagonist who becomes the antagonist, we also started discussing the re-film date.

We finished shifting around the audio and we also added in a few extra close ups after being advised by out teacher.

Today we updated out filming dates.

We filmed and completed our added scene and started filming our extended ending.

Now that our extended (and now alternate) ending is now filmed, we will add them into our film and finish off the editing.

Everything has now been completed and now only, the teachers comments remain, and any additional changes that they suggest.
